Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year Old

Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle Sr. began his career in 1893 as a travelling salesman for W. L. Weller & Sons, a whiskey merchant closely tied to the George T. Stagg Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Over the following decades, Pappy and business partner Alex Farnsley acquired Weller and combined the company with the distilling operations of A. Ph. Stitzel Distillery, leading to the creation of the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery in 1935. 

There, the Van Winkle family built a reputation for producing exceptionally rich bourbon, made from a wheated mashbill and aged to perfection.

Today, Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 20 Year Old is produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery — the very same distillery site once owned by George T. Stagg — with Julian Van Winkle III and his son Preston proudly representing the third and fourth generations of the Van Winkle family legacy.
