1973 Tomatin 36 Year Old Single Cask
We just love this decanter. The almost absurd thickness of the glass bottom (the 'punt') gives it some serious weight - you'll need both hands to pour this baby.
Anyway, the whisky... this Tomatin features the trademark exotic fruits often associated with the distillery, combined with a creamy sweetness from the American Oak. We can thank the WhiskyFun blog for this poetic and informative review when it was released.
Ripe bananas (but not flambéed ones), papayas and guavas topped with some light honey and custard. Becomes more ‘tropical’ after that, with more mangos and passion fruits, and then a little grassier with whiffs of fresh walnut peeling and crushed cider apples plus a little putty and fresh mint.
