1990 Rosebank G&M Rare Old (bottled 2014)
Hints of lavender, rose petals and beeswax polish. The palate has cracked black pepper with hints of red apple, orange peel and almonds, complemented by a creamy milk chocolate edge.
Before its closure, Rosebank produced a distinctly delicate style of whisky that is often best to drink during the summer months. Despite its popularity it sadly stopped distilling in 1993 and it was sold for to a property developer by Diageo in 2002. Apart from a handful of independent bottlers and the occasional special release from Diageo, it looks like Rosebank is slowly being consigned to the history books.
Described as a "grievous loss" by Michael Jackson, author of Malt Whisky Companion the all time best selling book on the subject.
